Mayfield Park and Preserve. Allison Mayfield purchased a cottage and 23 acres for his family as a summer and weekend retreat in 1909. A prominent Austin political figure, Mr. Mayfield was Chairman of the Railroad Commission and former Texas Secretary of State.

Mountain Goat at Mount Rushmore. They are not really goats, but antelopes. They are not native of this area: the first ones were brought to nearby Custer State Park from their Rocky Mountain ranges in 1924. They quickly escaped their captivity. To see a jumping humpback whale is high on the wish list of anyone who visits Alaska's Prince William Sound. Humpback whales are baleen feeders, consuming nearly a ton of food a day , mostly plankton and krill. They migrate 6,000 miles to reach their summer feeding grounds in Alaska . Harbour seals in the icy waters of Unakwik Inlet close to Meares Glacier, Alaska. Females and pups are often seen up on ice bergs near glaciers. They dive up to 600 feet to retrieve their food.
